The return of Big Brother

April Fools 03

Registration is activated by holding the ITC smart card up into the air!

According to a letter received yesterday, students had to register themselves when entering the ITC building as from Friday 1 April.

The letter stated that due to the Health and Safety regulations of the University of Twente, from this Friday onwards, all ITC students and PhD candidates are required to register their presence when they are within the ITC Building at the Hengelosestraat 99 in Enschede. This registration has become mandatory in all Dutch universities as per the start of the second quarter of the current year.

New registration sensors have been installed above the two entrances to the ITC building, the main front entrance and the back entrance. The presence registration is activated by holding the ITC smart card up into the air while entering or leaving the ITC-building. If registration has failed or has been forgotten, the smart card is automatically de-activated and cannot be used for payment in the building for coffee, printing etc. In such case, the card can be re-activated by registering your presence at the main entrance.

Mr. J.B. de Grapjanus (Team Manager, Registration Project ) indicated that due to late installation of registration sensors the students could not be notified earlier.

Many students ‘registered’ themselves on the morning of April Fools…Did you fall for it??!!
